Quality for life - Choice in care

About Us

St Michael's Hospice

St Michael's Hospice is proud to offer choice to all our patients.  We offer palliative care in our In-Patient Servicelonger term palliative, the option of Day Therapy and, of course, support within the patient's home through our Hospice at Home team.  The same medical team supports these areas of care, offering a flexible and seamless provision that meets individual needs of a patient and their family.

We aim to involve both family and friends in every aspect of patient care, and we actively encourage feedback of all sorts, whether emails, letters or even paintings:

Last year we gave the following support:

  • Care for 400 in-patients
  • 2,300 Hospice at Home visits
  • 2,200 booked day care attendances
  • 1,000 patients seen in out-patient clinics
  • Over 175 domiciliary visits
  • A comfortable home for our Nursing Home residents

What it costs

To maintain our current level of services we need £5 million each year.  Approximately 22% comes from NHS grants and 18% from fees in St Augustine's.  This leaves £3.2 million to be raised from voluntary sources.  Click here to make a donation towards the work of St Michael's Hospice.
