MiscellaneousAre the gardens accessible to wheelchairs?The gardens and a specially designed wide-framed greenhouse are wheelchair accessible. Patients and relations are encouraged to visit and sit in the gardens. There is also a Summer House and a sensory garden on the top lawn. Is there a patient’s phone on the wards?A portable telephone is available for use by patients and relatives. Friends and relatives are welcome to phone in by calling 01424 456 603 for the ground floor. In the single rooms on the upper floors, patients have their own room telephones. The nurse in charge can give you their telephone number. To contact the nurses to enquire about the health of a friend or relative, please call 01424 445 177. Is it possible to smoke on site?No smoking is allowed in any of the Hospice buildings. A smoking shelter is provided in the grounds; this is the only place where smoking is permitted on the site and is available to patients, their friends and relatives.
