Simon was a member of the Armed Forces, at one time even leading a Himalayan Expedition to Mount Everest. He has also worked in a number of private companies, particularly on the financial side, including being Chief Executive for his firm of solicitors; he is currently owner of Cheshunt Properties.  Outside the world of private business, he is a Magistrate and a Trustee of Hastings and Rother Mediation Service, Board Director of CAB, and member of the Independent Monitoring Board for Prisons and Immigration Removal Centres.  Simon lives in Udimore.
