Anniversary celebration

A home for 20 years

A surprise visit by daughter Betty was the icing on the cake for nursing home resident, Jan Marchant, when St Augustine's Nursing Unit, currently in the Moreton Centre, held a party to mark her 20th year as a resident.  Jan, now 73 years, arrived at St Augustine's on 21st February 1988 following a stroke.

Jan, who enjoys listening to Elvis Presley on her CD player and has a prized picture of the Chippendale's in her room was presented with flowers and a cake made by volunteer befriender, Pat Horne.  The party was organised by carer Sue Bowdler and Registered Manager Maxine Clist.

The Moreton Centre is the temporary new home for the St Augustine's nursing unit which has moved from the St Michael's Hospice building in Upper Maze Hill while renovation work is undertaken.  The current programme of works have all been funded by grants specifically for that purpose.

The official opening of St Augustine's @ the Moreton Centre, which has 18 ensuite bedrooms, took place on Friday 6th March.  Guests, who were welcomed by Julian Avery included Michael Foster MP who cut a ribbon and cake to mark the occasion.
