Standards you can expect from the service

Privacy

We will respect the need for you to have privacy and time together with your partners and or/family and friends.

Courtesy

All In Patient Services nurses will wear name badges and photo ID badges and introduce themselves in a courteous, warm professional manner.

You and your family will be asked whether you wish to be called by your first name and we will respect your preference.  This will be documented in the nursing notes.

Respect

You are entitled to openness and honesty in our discussions with you.

All the team will respect the culture, beliefs and sexual orientation of each individual patient.  We follow the Nursing and Midwifery Council's Code of Professional Conduct which states that we must:

'Recognise and respect the uniqueness and dignity of each patient and client and respond to their need for care, irrespective of their ethnic origin, religious beliefs, personal attributes, the nature of their health problem or any other factor.'

Consent & Confidentiality

We will obtain your signed consent before starting any nursing assessment, and will consult fully with you and gain your agreement to any service/treatment provided.  The nurse will explain to you our principles of confidentiality.  The nursing assessment will be shared with you and your agreement to it recorded.

Caring

We aim to provide care and support in the way that suits you best, promoting independence and autonomy.

Choice

Wherever possible, and at your request, we will arrange for you to have consultations with health care professionals of the same sex about health issues.
