Leaving a Gift in your Will
Leaving a Gift in your WillLegacies are a very valuable source of income for St Michael's Hospice. Indeed it was a well timed legacy that enabled our founders to buy the very building we occupy to this day. Such gifts allow St Michael's to fund our current level of services and to plan the care provided in the future. Making a WillIt is important that everyone makes a Will to ensure that your estate passes to loved ones rather than automatically to the State. Leaving a Will ensures that your wishes are carried out to the letter, leaving no doubt or uncertainty for those you leave behind. A Will can also include a gift to a charity or charities of your choice. Anyone can do it!Truth be told, anyone can leave a charitable gift in their Will. It can be a simple cash payment or a percentage of the remaining or residuary estate. Whatever the size of gift, let us assure you that all are most warmly received by the chosen charity. Would you consider St Michael's Hospice? If ever the time is right for you to include a gift to a charity in your Will, please would you consider St Michael's Hospice? By leaving such a gift you will be helping to secure the provision of our exemplary palliative care services to future communities of Hastings and Rother. Can I avoid Inheritance Tax?Leaving charitable gifts in your Will can certainly help you to reduce the value of your estate liable for Inheritance Tax. The current taxable threshold stands at £300,000. Above this amount, subject to certain provisions and exemptions, everything can be taxed at a rate of 40%. Charitable gifts are tax exempt, and so by leaving a gift to St Michael's Hospice you could reduce the amount of tax paid by your loved ones after your death.
