Quality for life - Choice in care

Fundraising A - Z

If you are still stuck for fundraising ideas you have come to the right page. Below are some of our favourites, but if there’s something else you would like to try we would love to hear about it.

Bring and Buy Sale
An oldie but a goodie. Host a bring and buy sale, guests bring their unwanted items and take something new home. You could also incorporate a raffle, tombola or cake sale.

Cake Sale
Why not bake a few biscuits, cook some cupcakes, decorate some doughnuts and then sell them at your work, school or just to friends.

Car Washing
Why not set up a car wash? Charge a small fee to wash cars for members of the public. Make sure the youngest volunteers have some training first to ensure no cars are damaged, then go right ahead! How about offering a windscreen washing service for people who are short on time?

Carol Singing
Obviously a fairly seasonal one, (though if you want to sing Christmas carols in June, please go ahead) have a carol singing evening and charge admission. Alternatively have a collection at an annual event.

Clothes Swap
Get your guests to bring 2 or 3 items of clothing they no longer wear, give them some browsing time to look at what each other brought, then everyone leave with 2 or 3 new items of clothing. Charge a small entrance fee, or sell refreshments.

Coffee Morning
Another fundraising classic, you provide the venue and the coffee and your guests provide the donations. Why not include a cake sale, a raffle or a tombola?

Concerts and Gigs
If you have the musical talent why not hold a concert and show it off to the world? Proceeds from tickets can be donated to the hospice or alternatively a collection held.

Dance
Get your glad-rags out and hold a dance. Charge a small fee for entry and why not hold a raffle or tombola as well?

Dinner Parties
Why not host a dinner party and charge a small fee to your guests, or if you think your skills as a host are up to it, why not charge restaurant prices?!? Alternatively, why not have a competition modelled on Channel4’s Come Dine With Me? Charge a fee to enter the contest and split the proceeds between prizes and the hospice.

Job Swap
Ever fancied doing someone else’s job for a day? Would people pay to do yours? Why not auction your job off for the day? Alternatively why not be sponsored to do a job that you wouldn’t normally think of?

Pamper Parties
If you and your friends are into life’s little luxuries why not host a pampering party. Take turns to pamper each other, (or call in the professionals) have a few glasses of wine and charge a small entrance fee.

Pyjama Party
Pyjama parties are lots of fun, why not hold one and charge a small fee which can be donated to the hospice. This could be coupled with Yellow Day with everyone wearing yellow pyjamas. Don’t forget your teddies!

Quiz Night
Why not test the old grey matter and hold a quiz night? You could theme it to any events happening at the same time, or go for the traditional general knowledge. You could couple this with a raffle for some extra fundraising.

Race Night
Why not hold a race night? Invite members of your club or group and place bets on videos of races. Anything from horses to camels are known. Alternatively why not race wind up toys?

Raffle or Tombola
A tried and tested classic which needs no further explanation. Just make sure to check on the rules governing these at www.intstitute-of-fundraising.org.uk

Smoking Shelter
Does your business have a smoking shelter? Why not for a week charge a small fee for entry? Proceeds donated to the hospice.

Sweepstake
Why not run a sweepstake? Typical events include the World Cup, Wimbledon and the Grand National, but why not explore other areas such as Big Brother, the X-factor, Britain’s Got Talent?
