Braving the Heights!

Peggy braves the heights for St Michael’s Hospice

Peggy Pyke-Lees, 89 year old mother of the Chief Executive at St Michael’s Hospice, Celia Pyke-Lees, dropped 128 feet down the side of Ocean House on Sunday 18th July, anxiously watched by all her family.  We believe that she is the oldest abseiler we have had since we have been running the annual event.  Peggy certainly showed everyone how it should be done and also won a prize for the best fancy dress.

Peggy going down!

Twenty-eight very brave people abseiled altogether, raising much needed funds for St Michael’s running costs.  All the abseilers did brilliantly, despite the high wind.  They were enthusiastic and some wanted to go down twice!

We will be abseiling again in 2012 so if you would like to register please email for further information, or to register your interest.
