The Derek Norcross 12 Hour Sponsored Play
Talented local choirs entertain for 12 hours!
The Derek Norcross 12 Hour Play on 16th October was a great success and demonstrated the talent and diversity of local singing groups and instrumentalists. Audrey Norcross, Derek’s widow, kindly opened the concert at 12:30.
Pupils from the Hastings and Rother Area Music Centre used their normal Saturday morning lessons to raise sponsorship from their family and friends.
Beautiful hand made crafts, Christmas cards and jewellery all sold well on the day, as well as the tea and cakes of course!
A feast of local choirs involving over 200 singers entertained the audience throughout the day demonstrating a wide variety of musical styles. Battle Choral Society provided over 70 singers alone.
The concert finished with extracts from Handel’s Messiah performed by over a hundred singers from the choirs taking part earlier in the day. This was a fantastic finale; a very fitting end to a superb musical extravaganza.
The event has raised, so far, in excess of £3,400 with more 
sponsorship to come.
